This is the Grand Designs Kitchen room set that was created for the recent Grand Designs Live Show at ExCel in London, it was showcased at the Grand Interiors area of the hugely popular live show of the TV programme Grand Designs fronted by Kevin McCloud.
The theme for the room set was ‘block colour’ and inspiration was taken from the artist Mondrian and the way he used blocks of primary colour in his paintings. There were highlights of gold in the taps, cabinet hardware and even a gold disco ball to encourage a bit of kitchen dancing. The colour palette was updated with contemporary colours from Little Greene Paint.
The kitchen was supplied by Sola, a fantastic company who get their cabinets manufactured in Sweden. Smeg supplied the bright fridge that complemented the scheme perfectly.
The flooring was supplied by Concreate and fitted by Coraff and the furniture was from Case and Content by Terence Conran. The under-lit stone section of floor was from Translucent Creations. The oversized pendant lampshades were from Needcraft.co.uk and covered in wallpapers from MiniModerns, Mitas & Co and Cole & Son.
